I greet this day with LOVE!
Today begins the first day of school for our students!
Cheers!
As I prepare this day,
I align my intentions and prayers with the Four Agreements by don Miguel Ruiz
The Four Agreements are:
1. Be Impeccable with your Word: Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the Word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love.
2. Don’t Take Anything Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.
3. Don’t Make Assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.
4. Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.

‘Tis the season to leave for Maine!
There are so many delights wrapped up in the Maine journey
I enjoy the manic excitement we feel driving through the night,
watching the sky lighten at dawn
I love how the air quality changes ~ lots of deep circular breathing
After 8-9 hours on the road we arrive in Belfast!
Our first stop is the Belfast Co-op
I breathe deeply when I walk through the door ~ the co-op has a delicious fragrance ~ so earthy and energizing. We have our first meal in Maine here. I’m thankful for the co-op’s awesome deli.
Every year, I get my lunar phase wall calendar here and some funky items.
We stroll through town.
The Green Store is divine!
Our cats get their toys replenished from The Green Store. Akira gets a “kick buddy”, and Elsy a catnip pillow. I buy my beeswax goddess candles from here.
3 more hours of seaside driving through idyllic towns and gorgeous vistas to reach our cabin.
I enjoy
the smell of the sea air and our cabin,
the sweet wild blueberries that grow on our property,
the enchanting woods… this beautiful yellow birch we honor every year…

collecting rocks at Jasper Beach
hiking on Great Wass Island
playing in Bar Harbor
eating at McKay’s Public House
clothes & funky finds shopping at Bar Harbor Hemporium
fun at Geddy’s
exploring Acadia Island
the seascape of Maine
seeing the Milky Way
the peaceful ambience, simply listening to Nature
misty days spent in candlelight and a cozy sweater
I am grateful for the gift of this property and homestead we have in Maine.
I honor this opportunity to be an Earthsteward of this land.
Thank You Goddess and God for these blessings!
Today I will practice savoring my timespace at home
I will play with my cats,
tend to my plants,
cast a circle of protection for our home,
and enjoy this present moment ~ one moment at a time
Cheers!
Brightest Blessings!
Love,
Anna

WOW! It’s been a week since I last logged on
and entered the world of cyberspace
YES! Last Friday was FASCINATING and
the mystery adorned me with treasures
Dinner with my brother & his wife and Colin @ Amada Restaurant was STELLAR
Every mouthful was savored and delicious!
What a pleasure to dine with kindred spirits who ENJOY flavors and feasting!
The four of us created an amusing cadence of delightful sounds as we ate
I’m inspired to make & serve a tapas dinner sometime with sangria
Time to find a cookbook
Edwin & Heather surprised me with two birthday gifts…
~ They treated Colin and I to our dinner
~ Edwin chose for me a gorgeous, funky handmade necklace
The necklace is a piece of New Jersey history
It’s a chunk of found glass manufactured in the Pine Barrens between 1837 and 1869
The glass is a pretty green with two golden amber spots
The glass is wrapped in copper with metal spiral flourishes
and hangs on a soft green silk ribbon
I LOVE it!
It reminds me of the style of jewelry Colin and I make
What’s special about this piece is that
rather than buying it,
I’d say, “I can make that,” and I’d create my own
I appreciate having another’s handmade art
When I’m not wearing my new treasure,
it hangs in the dining room window
Edwin’s gift inspired Colin and I to revisit a favorite haunt and
go on an “archaeological expedition” on Sunday
to collect the amethyst glass shards from the vintage bottle dump in the woods
As we collected our amethyst jewels, we found the most exquisite mother of pearl shells
The colors range from white to pink to lavender opalescent
I’m looking forward to a craft day to make more found glass jewelry
…Seeing my nieces on Friday before dinner was a treat!
I need to focus some time to upload photographs to share of these beautiful times
Watching Rebecca open her gifts and identify them is a pleasure
I’m enjoying getting to know her and choose gifts that have some relevance to what she’s drawn to
Eliza is a Buddha angel
You can see the timelessness and wisdom in her
and heaven, does she have a smile that lights up your soul!
Cheers & Thanks for a delightful celebration!
Saturday morning greeted us with a gorgeous day
so we secured our bicycles to the Murano
We thought of a day in Lambertville & New Hope navigating the canals and intriguing streets
Loving the ways of mystery,
while we were enjoying our pre-ride lunch at Ichiban in Princeton,
my cell phone rang
My fourteen year-old friend, Marisa, called to tell me that her and her mom were visiting the farm!
I was thrilled!
Merrily, we ate riding on the winds of change
The next 30 hours were pure mystery and adventure
We enjoyed an unexpected twist of bliss
This adventure included our archaeological dig,
sparklers at twilight in the woods
storytelling
lots of laughter and cheer
The rest of the week ~ Monday through Thursday ~ I felt as stormy & in flux as the weather
Every day I had some kind of wandering headache ~ the kind that signals that my head is a barometer
During these days I felt estranged from myself and life
with this undercurrent of dull, returning pressure to my forehead and eyes
…to everything there’s a season
Yet, in between naps and moments of stillness,
I found solace in my home
and in the freedom and luxury of not having to work
In gratitude and love, I cared for myself and our home in the following ways,
I read a wonder-full, inspiring story over two days ~ a story that soothed the worst discomfort
I practiced Yoga anyway
Journaled with sparkly pens with sunlight rainbows on my knees and hands
Enjoyed another excursion of dusting in preparation for our party on Sunday
We set up a new fish tank for Saffron & got a new black moor
(ALWAYS rinse the gravel when replacing it! Our beautiful Saffron suffered damage to his fins due to our mistake of not rinsing his new gravel before adding it to the new tank. I am deeply sorry.)
I had a “spa day”
~ got my bangs trimmed short
and joined my wonder-full friend/mother-in-law for a refreshing pedicure
and a day of antique shopping (browsing for me)
I shopped for ingredients and party fixings
and with the help of my darling husband,
was up till midnight last night making our finest salads and side dishes for Sunday’s gathering!
For our guests of honor, we are featuring an array of organic, wholesome options…
We appeal to both vegan and hearty meat-and-potato connoisseurs alike
*garlic hummus with lemon & Goddess dressing
*chilled brown rice & lentil salad: celery, onion, garlic, roasted red peppers, cilantro, parsley, a dash of dill in an Italian seasoned balsamic vinaigrette
*chilled bean salad: chick peas, kidney beans and pinto beans with corn, cilantro, roasted red peppers, onion and celery in a zesty lime vinaigrette
*red potato salad: dill, goat’s milk yogurt, mayo, parsley and cilantro, onion, celery, ground black pepper, sea salt, lemon juice, shittake vinegar, stone ground mustard, hard boiled eggs
*pico de gallo with corn chips
*grilled hamburgers, Komensky’s kielbasi and salmon
*grilled veggies
*fruit salad
*fruit soup
*chocolate chip mint ice cream
*Shiraz and chilled Cava
*iced tea
*water with lemon
Today I have felt very faint discomfort
and hope for a pain-free day!
Colin will be home by 11 a.m. for the day
We’re going to vacuum and tidy the house,
add some decor to the patio for Sunday’s celebration
for we have plans for this afternoon and a day trip planned for Saturday!
Today I’m going to watch my cousin bowl in Boonton
and maybe join her and her friends for dinner
Tomorrow is an early day…
Colin and I are picking up his mom and taking her to see some of our favorite sights in Scranton, PA
First stop, Komensky’s market for kielbasa
Next, we drive to a charming, fun antique store near my Dad’s house
I noticed the store because of its attractive sign: “New & Gently Used Items”
This was a haven for us during the days we took care of my Dad when he was mending his broken ankle
I love the way the decor is organized, the feel of the ambience and the prices of things!
We found a good lot of treasure there
Then we break our fast and feast at Cooper’s Seafood for a late lunch with my Dad
Finally, we are looking forward to introducing Joke to Nay Aug Park!
There are the most fascinating, magical spirits there to discover!
…the river, the ravine, the tree house…
‘Tis time to say farewell for now!
Brightest blessings,
Anna

Mystery fascinates me
I enjoy meandering down the path of a new adventure
Today I am fascinated by the possibilities that await me
This evening my husband, Colin, and I are joining my brother, Edwin, and his wife, Heather, for dinner at Amada Resteraunt in Philadelphia
I’m intrigued by the menu
the tradition
and the photos throughout
This dinner is a celebration of…
my graduation and birthday
my brother earning his pilot’s license
Colin’s fortune with employment
and Heather’s motherhood
Cheers! Brightest blessings abound!
Today I am fascinated by
the adventure we’ll experience en route to my brother’s home
the life cycle of a ladybug as depicted in “Starting Life Ladybug” ~ any early birthday present I’m giving to my neice, Rebecca
how my neices, Rebecca & Eliza, have grown and changed
what this day will inspire!
with Love & Gratitude,
Anna

I remember my 2nd Grade teacher showing us how to make coupon books for gift giving
I don’t remember the holiday we were celebrating,
but I do remember that I chose to make coupons for dusting at home
There was something sacred about caring for these items I treasured
Dusting became a communion of appreciation for the decorations we displayed
I also enjoyed polishing the wood furniture and the smell of the oil
As I ponder my early inspirations, my grandma’s house comes to mind
Grandma had a nice home that always felt fresh and pleasant
She enjoyed telling stories about her treasures
We’d visit this or that, and I noticed the finish of the wood, the shine of the porcelain, the feel of the stone
My home is a work of art & heart
Every windowsill display and array of artfully arranged items
comes to life as an altar that tells a story
…some scenes are prayer requests
I enjoy the process of communing with these objects and energies that create a scene & invoke Spirit
As I bathe each object and wrap it in a towel, I appreciate the object’s presence
This meditation cultivates a sense of awe and gratitude for these treasures
And I alter my altars…
As meditations reveal, Life inspires and prayers change form,
so do the altars that bless this home!
Love,
Anna
Being Content with Boredom July 22, 2009

Happy Summer!
I’ve been doing a lot of living…
a lot of traveling and visiting folks
Life is GROOVY!
A recent trip to West Virginia to visit friends with a friend
inspired me in new and deep dimensions
One of the key dynamics I enjoy about this particular blending of friends
is being a part of the mix
observing
listening
being
A woman I visited with my first night in West Viriginia at a friend’s house
enjoyed my enthusiasm and warmth
We first met two years ago
At this festive reunion of friends, my joy and excitement energized my rap
We were invited to visit her home a few days later for an afternoon picnic
On this day, I found myself quiet and mellow
enjoying listening to the conversations between children and adults
about children’s books, fantasy and imagination
I felt an organic tiredness from our days of play and late nights of storytelling
I was content to listen
and let my imagination paint pictures with the delightful words about children’s literature
Our hostess with whom I enjoyed a ravenous conversation with a few nights earlier
questioned my quiet demeanor,
telling me I missed my husband
Sure, I would have welcomed him on this trip,
to share in the ambience of our travels
but he chose what was right for him ~ Aikido camp
I’m glad for him, he did!
I did not miss him in an emotional, longing sense
Had he been there, my peaceful, receptive mood who have endured just the same
for I enjoy the pleasure of listening and being entertained
When I replied that I did not miss my husband,
she asked if I was bored
Was I bored?
I answered, “Yes.”
I was bored of her conversation and questions,
so I decided to go for a walk
I asked my 14-year-old friend if she wanted to come along
While we meandered along the riverbank,
I asked her what it means to be bored
She said that for her it means that she’d rather be doing something else than what she’s doing
We talked about lack of interest in the present moment or activity,
as we related it to school work and not being in control of what we’re doing
So we daydream ~ create with our imaginations ~ write stories, doodle…space out…
I appreciated her articulate and astute interpretation
Our conversation encouraged me to see that I can be content with being bored
I know the situation is temporary
so I can use the time to listen in new ways,
to write new stories,
practice being still and deepening the breath…
of deepening my connection,
to pray and meditate
This experience also reminded me that some folks can be uncomfortable with a person’s quietness,
because they misinterpret their peaceful state as “something is wrong”
I’m grateful for this lesson
as I’m reminded to practice accepting & respecting others as they are in their space

Namaste!
Yesterday the school year ended on a fabulous note for me!
I felt proud leaving my classroom and lab in good shape
And I got a surprise… a check for mentoring a new teacher
I didn’t expect payment ~ what a treat!
And Colin came home with awesome news about work
He asked me to pick up a bottle of wine
We shared our good fortune and celebrated at his folk’s farm
The evening was magical!
We discovered a thick, sparkley carpet of lightning bugs under the yew tree where we said our wedding vows
and saw a majestic tower of magenta wild roses in radiant bloom
During a refreshing thunderstorm, we saw bolts of pink lightning!
After the storm cleared, the atmosphere illuminated a colorful light that drenched everything in a rosey-peachy glow
We literally saw the world through rose colored glasses!
What a beautiful celebration!
I feel so blessed by Nature
Our run this morning felt quick although it was the same length and time
The air was cool and fresh
I am so grateful that we exercise and savor these gorgeous dawnings
Prayer is speaking to Spirit, whereas meditation is listening to Spirit
Today I’m focusing on my intentions, dreams and vision for Summer
I’m dedicating today to pray and meditate
I often find Divine guidance when immersed in Nature
Some of my deepest soul transformations have shifted while out in the elements
Today I’m looking forward to a long, quiet bike ride along the canal
Unfortunately, the power cord to my laptop isn’t working, I’m running on battery power
I’d love to write more but need to conserve power
Today I give thanks to all of the beautiful people and Divine guides that have blessed us!
Love,
Anna

What a lovely way to awaken!
Colin and I enjoyed a serene, birdsong filled morning run
We ran for 30 minutes while watching the skies change and birds bounce through misty meadows
We feel great
and fortunate to be able to run
and appreciate the cool, quiet stirrings of the morning
Today is the teacher’s last day of school!
We’re having a break-feast this morning to celebrate @ 9:00 a.m.
I’m thrilled, yet I have loose ends to mend in my Chemistry lab
I hope to have things buttoned-up by noon when the rest of the faculty leaves for the summer!
I am grateful to the students who worked for me this week!
Thanks to their help, my lab is in great shape!
Time for Surya Namaskar, or Sun Salutations!
Love,
Anna

It’s mid-morning in New Jersey
The scene outside my window is tranquil
A soft breeze plays with the dogwood boughs
no sound comes from thewind chimes
yet I hear birds chirping and singing
The sky is grey and the air is 66°F
The grass is hyper green
I see tall sprouts of yellow flowers called hawk weed
Our lawn is wild and overgrown with nourishing weeds
Plantain, dandelion, chickweed, wild carrot, violets, cinquefoil, clover…
I am grateful for our green bounty
Inside, our home is tranquil
We just shared a satisfying meal of organic steel-cut oats
I love the texture and wholesome flavor
We also made some nourishing herbal infusions…red clover, nettles and oatstraw
I just heard a cardinal call…how pretty!
I’ve been studying animal medicine and cardinals as a totem
I have some cardinal totems around the house
a few hang in the ficus tree in the solarium
Colin’s working on drawings for Wizards of the Coast
A sink of hot water and dishes cools as I write
At this moment I feel
bliss
contentment
gratitude
freedom
Today is a day with unlimited possibility
There is nothing we are scheduled to do
Yes!
I am learning to savor these days and weekends in a new way
since caring for my dear dad February through April
I’m used to having weekends with no plans
and I LOVE this freedom to explore and be
Being a teacher, my day changes every 40 minutes from 8:25 to 3:10
Every 40 minutes I am responsible for tracking student attendance & progress, adapting to the flow of my student’s needs
From 8:25 to 3:10, I am of service to my students
When I am home
I treasure my time and freedom
When my dad broke his ankle at the end of January
I visited him just about every weekend through April
Colin and I enjoyed buying him groceries and treats
and fussing over him
We made our visits into day trips
since his house is 2 and 1/2 hours from ours
We had a lot of fun and enjoyed our adventures
Time with him is precious and appreciated
I love the sunlight he gets into his living room window
He has an amazing aloe plant ~ it’s about 3 feet in diameter!
We played records and listened to one of my childhood favorites
“Christmas with Hank Snow”
We laughed, drank red wine and ate pizza, watched funny TV shows…
it was FUN!
My dad also has gastrointestinal stromal tumors
Yes, he has cancer
I found out on Election Day 2008
Since then things have been challenging in new ways
Balancing school (work), my Celebrancy studies, my free time and myself has been a unique learning experience!
The spheres of integration shift and chaos teaches
Colin ~ my other wing ~ has been what he’s always been
a supportive, evolving, loving, fun and creative soulmate
Together we’ve been learning a lot and embracing chaos and the beauty it offers!
I love the life we’re crafting together!
So… our hairdressers did phenomenal work!
I LOVE the way Margaret cut my hair!
My bangs are shorter, wispier and really show off my eyes!
She cut 4-5 inches off my length although my hair is still long
My hair feels alive and healthy and beautiful!
Yesterday I felt like celebrity at school with all the positive attention and compliments I received about my hair cut
I am sending Margaret a special thank you card today!
Colin’s cut is shorter than usual but really shows off his soft curls that I love
I love that he gets pampered too!
Friday evening I got a lovely pedicure and manicure!
Ingrid does an impeccable job with painting,
shaping nails and tending to cuticles
I bring my own polishes and combine colors
~ a flat saturated color is the base, covered with an opalescent pearly color
My toes are bright turquoise that look greenish under incandescent lighting
and my fingers are a lighter greenish turquoise that look aquamarine under incandescent lighting
I love playing with colors and enjoy the subtle fluctuations in color in different lighting
Once I get a professional manicure and pedicure,
I touch up the colors with my own polishes
I’d love to write on self-care and Self-care
yet, the solarium is beckoning me…
Cheers to a lovely day!
Namaste,
Anna
